Grampian Kart Club is planning for a return to racing with the first round of our Boyndie Drome Open Challenge on the 8th and 9th May.
The committee discussed the issue yesterday and agreed that we should plan to host a race meeting in May on the assumption that the restrictions will ease sufficiently to allow it to happen. We originally planned for a 7 round BDOC so have made the decision to add a further date in June and try run a 6 round series with 1 drop round.
The race weekend will continue to be run split to assist in reduced numbers of people on site and in order to offer everyone value for money in track time. We will look to split the classes equally across the 2 days but it will roughly equate to juniors on Saturday and Seniors on Sunday with the odd exception to balance the numbers.
Tyre restrictions will be open for bambino, 2 sets for Honda Cadets and 3 sets for all other 2 stroke classes. Twin engine prokart and historics to feedback the general consensus among their drivers. Based on a 6 round series.
Please note that we have no more information than you on the easing of restrictions and how it will all pan out. We can only follow the guidance/restrictions as and when it becomes available and so all the above is subject to change.
The club are currently in need of additional volunteers to assist in the running of the upcoming events. We need someone to organise marshal cover ahead of race meetings and stewards/driving standards. These roles have limited responsibility over the year and we’d welcome a member or family member to step forward and fill them. Without them – we don’t go racing!
